Rail passengers stranded in 'ice cold' train overnight

A train to Durham was stranded at Darlington for five hours overnight because of power failures.

Sophie Cunningham, a passenger on the train, said people were left without heating or food but were given hot drinks and blankets by staff.

Ms Cunningham said the train, which had pregnant women and elderly people on board, was "absolutely ice cold."

She told BBC Radio 5 live's Up All Night: "It's grim... we were told it was an hour - and that hour turned into five hours."
