Vicky Pryce calls for mental health support in prisons
Economist Vicky Pryce claims more should be done to help female prisoners with mental health problems.
Pryce, who was jailed for taking ex-husband Chris Huhne's speeding points, said some women's prisons were more like "amateur mental institutions."
She told BBC Radio 5 live's Breakfast: "Mental health services should be there, assisting so they deal with the problem and these women don't offend again."
The Ministry of Justice said female offenders had access to the support they needed and would be helped upon release to find work and turn their backs on crime.
