'Selfie' named word of the year by Oxford Dictionary
The word "selfie" has topped the list of the online Oxford Dictionary's words of the year, after its usage increased by 17,000% in the past 12 months.
Other shortlisted words included "twerk", "binge-watch" and "schmeat" - meaning a form of meat synthetically produced from biological tissue.
Online editor of Oxford Dictionaries Richard Holden explains the reasons behind the choice.
