Esther McVey, minister for disabled people, defends benefit changes

The minister for disabled people, Esther McVey has defended the government's changes to the disability benefits system.

The existing Disability Living Allowance is being phased out and replaced with the new Personal Independence Payment.

Ms McVey told BBC News that there was a case for more regular assessments and the reforms will get support to the people who need it the most.

Charities claim that half a million disabled people could lose out.
