Bradley Wiggins was in pain after crash, says witness

Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins has suffered broken ribs after he was knocked off his bike.

British Olympic champion Wiggins also injured a wrist in the collision with a vehicle close to a petrol station near his home in Lancashire on Wednesday evening.

Yasmin Smith told the BBC she heard "a screeching of tyres and a loud thud".

At first she did not realise the injured cyclist was Wiggins.

"You could see the pain in his eyes and in his face," she added.
