Jeremy Clarkson apologises for strike comment
There have been thousands of complaints to the BBC after Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson made comments about public sector strikers on Tuesday evening's The One Show.
The union Unison called for him to be sacked. Mr Clarkson said he had not intended for the comments on The One Show to be taken seriously and was "happy to apologise" if offence had been caused.
The BBC received about 5,000 complaints and has also apologised.
Unison, the UK's largest union, welcomed Mr Clarkson's apology and invited him to join a healthcare assistant to experience the reality of daily life on a hospital ward.
Nick Higham reports.
