Ground-to-air missiles 'may protect' London 2012 games

The government is considering deploying ground-to-air missiles to protect London from attack during the Olympic Games next year.

The Defence Secretary, Philip Hammond, said the missiles would be deployed if they were deemed operationally necessary.

The comments follow reports of concern in the United States about security plans for the Games.
