MPs support plans for a high speed rail network

Plans to build a high speed rail link between London and Manchester have been given a cautious backing from MPs.

Members of the Transport Committee said there was a 'good case' for the £34bn scheme.

But they also said the government needed to do more to make sure that building the new line -- wouldn't have an impact on investment in other parts of the rail network.
