Skydiving benefits cheat given suspended jail term

A benefit cheat who was caught skydiving after claiming she was too ill to walk, has been given a 12 week suspended prison sentence.

Clare Jones, from Tonypandy, South Wales, claimed more than £6,000 in benefits while earning money working in cafes.

She admitted two charges of failing to notify the authorities of a change in circumstances.

The BBC's Colette Hume said the 38-year-old took part in the charity skydive because her father had been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Footage of Jones' skydive was released by the Department of Work and Pensions
