Met police: 'There will be a robust investigation'

Acting Commissioner Tim Godwin and Deputy Commissioner John Yates have appeared before the Metropolitan Police Authority at City Hall to face questions over the tabloid phone hacking inquiry and undercover operations.

On Wednesday the force said it was launching a fresh investigation having received what it called "significant new information".

Scotland Yard's decision to reopen the hacking investigation follows a News of the World internal inquiry that led to the sacking of its head of news, Ian Edmondson, on Tuesday.
