Controversy over plans to rent Beatrix Potter's home

The National Trust is planning to convert the former Lake District home of author Beatrix Potter into a holiday cottage.

But some, including Lib Dem MP Tim Farron, have criticised the plans, arguing they would break a provision in her will that her home should "continue to be let at moderate rents" to local people.

The National Trust's John Moffat said when Beatrix Potter was alive she approved of change and would not have been offended by the plans.

Stuart Flinders reports from Cumbria.
