Gay conflict in Catholic Church ahead of Pope's visit

The leader of Catholics in England and Wales, Archbishop Vincent Nichols, has insisted that he is confident of a high turn-out for the visit of Pope Benedict at the end of this week.

He played down suggestions that controversial and divisive issues facing the church, such as homosexuality, may keep people away.
