'Suspicious' child deaths probed in Edinburgh

Police investigating the deaths of three young children in a house in Edinburgh say they believe they died of 'suspicious circumstances'.

Speaking in a news conference, Det Supt Allan Jones of Lothian and Borders Police said it was still too early to determine an exact cause of death.

He confirmed post-mortems were being carried out on the children, who have been named as eight-year-old twins Luca and Austin Riggi, and their five-year-old sister Cecilia.

Their mother, who is still in hospital, is expected to be questioned.
