India to require licence for map apps

India has drafted a new geospatial bill in an effort to regulate how information about the country's geography and boundaries is collected and used.

Those found violating its rules will face steep fines of at least 10 million rupees (£100,000) - up to a maximum of one billion rupees (£10m) along with imprisonment for up to seven years.
