Most of big data is 'trash' says Netflix's Todd Yellin
Big data is mostly "trash" Netflix's vice president of product innovation, Todd Yellin has told BBC Click's Nick Kwek.
Describing personalisation across the internet as being in an "adolescence phase", Mr Yellin explained that big data was not the "magic mountain of gold" that people think it is.
Who a person is, is not important but what they are actually watching is key to good personalisation, he said.
Netflix has announced that over 150 hours of High Dynamic Range (HDR) video content will be added to its catalogue by the end of the year.
The streaming service is competing against Amazon's Instant Video which already offers HDR content.
