Smartphone beacons beckon you on London's Regent Street

Beacon technology, which uses Bluetooth to push out information to smartphones, looks set to transform how some retailers engage with their customers.

Some shops have already installed them and if you have a matching app, the beacons work out where you are and send tailored information right to your handset depending on your proximity.

LJ Rich has managed to get inside the beacons on London's Regent Street to demonstrate that their potential is greater than just retail.
