Microsoft’s prototype Xbox Kinect and 3D motion technology
Motion sensor technology designed for the Xbox gaming system is being adapted for 3D video communication systems.
Microsoft is developing a camera that creates an image of a room that moves as someone watching in a different location sways in front of a TV screen.
It is also testing light sensors in an experimental interactive dining table.
The software giant's chief research officer, Craig Mundie, has given Rory Cellan-Jones a tour of its research institute near Seattle.
