A gorilla that escaped from his enclosure at London Zoo drank five litres of squash

When Kumbuka, a silverback gorilla, got out of his enclosure at London Zoo recently, he helped himself to five litres of blackcurrant squash.

A report has been published showing that the gorilla escaped through an unlocked door and in to a secured keepers' area. He was returned to his den about two hours later, after being tranquillised.

Professor David Field, the zoological director at the zoo explained to BBC Radio 4's PM programme what Kumbuka did with his freedom.
