Nasa tests enormous rocket booster in Utah desert

A giant rocket booster has been test-fired in the Utah desert, in the US.

It will form part of the Space Launch System, which Nasa is developing to send humans beyond Earth to destinations such as asteroids and Mars.

Watching the test-firing, Dr Adam Baker, senior lecturer in astronautics at Kingston University, UK, told the BBC that although visually impressive, the booster incorporated technology that went back many years.
