Barn owls back from the brink after baby boom

Barn owl populations have recovered from their lowest levels on record thanks to a baby boom.

The harsh winter of 2013 caused a lot of problems for wildlife in the UK, and barn owls were among the hardest hit.

They were unable to hunt, meaning that many starved to death.

David Gregory-Kumar reports on the efforts being made to protect them, which helped trigger a sharp rise in the birth rate.

BBC Inside Out is broadcast on Monday, 9 February on BBC One West Midlands at 19:30 GMT and nationwide for 30 days thereafter on the iPlayer.
