Between the cover of John Evelyn's classic book Sylva

This year marks the 350th anniversary of the publication of the classic tree book, Sylva, written by John Evelyn.

Described as the first comprehensive study of UK trees, it was also the first book to be published by the newly formed Royal Society.

Environment reporter Mark Kinver asks why Sylva has stood the test of time and why two authors are published a new version, updated for the 21st Century.
