Australia unveils powerful radio telescope

A giant radio telescope in the Australian outback will begin work today.

Scientists hope the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder, or ASKAP, will help them understand the origins of stars and galaxies.

Professor Peter Hall, a principal investigator attached to the project, explained the magnitude of the experiment.
