Jupiter icy moons mission chosen
The European Space Agency is to mount a billion-euro mission to Jupiter and its icy moons.
The probe, called Juice, would be built in time for a launch in 2022, although it would be a further eight years before it reached the Jovian system.
It will make a couple of close passes of Europa, which is thought to have a global ocean under its ice shell.
Dr Britney Schmidt, from the University of Texas at Austin, studies the Jovian moon.
She told BBC News science correspondent Jonathan Amos why it is a fascinating place and what Juice could tell us about its interior.
