JRR Tolkien: 'Dark' unfinished tale Kullervo published
A previously unknown story by JRR Tolkien, author of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, is being published, more than 40 years after his death.
The Story of Kullervo, written in 1914, was one of Tolkien's earliest works. It formed the foundation for some of his later books and characters - but was left unfinished.
Tolkien scholar Verlyn Flieger edited the book using the author's original, handwritten manuscript.
She told the BBC what it was like to work with the manuscript of this tragic short story and get it published.
