John Gordon Lorimer's Gulf handbook goes online

A Scotsman whose passion for the Persian Gulf produced one of the most important archives of the area is to be celebrated a century after his death.

John Gordon Lorimer was a British diplomat from Dundee, who created a vast encyclopaedia, or Gazetteer. It remained classified until 1955.

Now the book is being published online, to the delight of his family.

BBC Scotland's arts correspondent, Pauline McLean, reports.
