Standards testing lab gets multimillion pound makeover
From fire extinguishers to condoms, the British Standards Institution - now known as BSI - has been setting safety standards for products for more than 100 years.
It certifies products with the Kitemark - a voluntary certification scheme proving that products have exceeded international standards for quality, safety and performance.
The organisation's testing laboratories in Hertfordshire have recently had a £3m makeover to upgrade the facilities with the latest technology.
Test engineer Mark Manito showed BBC News some of the work that goes on to ensure the safety of everyday products.
