Live the Story: A cameraman's view of the protest crowd

On Republic Day in Turkey thousands gather to mark the anniversary of the creation of the modern state.

For many it is a day of celebration, while for others it is an opportunity to stage rallies and demonstrations against the government.

BBC cameraman Christian Parkinson was in Istanbul this week and sent this behind the scenes glimpse of the day as he saw it; both at a military parade and at a lively street demonstration in central Istanbul.
