St Louis race debate sparked by BBC video

In March 2012, a BBC report found a deep economic and social divide in the middle of St Louis and sparked a discussion among residents and civic leaders of what could be done.

Census data showed major differences in household income, property values and educational attainment depending on which side of Delmar Boulevard one lived.

The story went viral in the city, cited by major publications, TV stations, public radio, and shared thousands of times on social networks.

Among others, the Missouri History Museum with assistance by the Anti-Defamation League created a discussion guide and invited community organizers to take the BBC story along with a survey into their communities.

The BBC's Franz Strasser returned to St Louis to find out if a newly started dialogue can make a difference.
