Augmented reality apps seek to alter physical world
Augmented reality, a form of technology that takes virtual objects and layers them atop live camera images, is beginning to take hold in the US.
Mobile enthusiast Brian August has create an app that allows individuals to point their smartphone cameras at the New York City skyline and see a digitised version of the World Trade Center towers overlaid against the Manhattan skyscrapers.
Further uptown, students at the School of Visual Arts Interaction Design Program are experimenting with augmented reality apps of the future.
The BBC's Matt Danzico reports on the ways these apps are helping to change people's perceptions of their world.
