'Crucial' elderly have home care option

Ministers have agreed to allow more flexibility in how town halls can raise council tax for care services by allowing councils to front-load council tax rises specifically earmarked for social care.

Jill Colbert is Trafford Council's Interim Corporate Director Children, Families and Well-Being and Ray James is Immediate Past President of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services in England. They told the Today programme that money should be invested in social care services to allow home care for the elderly.
