Ex-Culture Secretary compares Bake Off to Top Gear

Ex-Culture Secretary John Whittingdale has voiced fears that the Great British Bake Off could suffer a similar fate to Top Gear.

He was reacting to news that Mary Berry will leave the show when it goes to Channel 4.

Speaking to Martha Kearney on the World at One, Mr Whittingdale says he was "surprised" the broadcaster bought the programme from the BBC and feels it "raises questions as to whether it's appropriate".
