Women to be offered their own £3,000 'birth budgets'

Maternity services in England should be safer and more personalised in future, according to an independent review.

One suggestion being put forward is that pregnant women be given a personal budget of £3,000, the cost of the average low-risk NHS birth, to appoint their own midwife.
