'There was a clear need for a discussion of intimate matters'

The Institute of Sexology is a new exhibition that opens on Thursday at the Wellcome Collection, London.

It looks at the work of those who changed the way we think about sex, such as Sigmund Freud, Marie Stopes and Alfred Kinsey. The exhibition features over 200 erotic objects, many collected by Henry Wellcome, who founded the Wellcome Trust charity.

Today programme presenter Sarah Montague went to view the exhibition.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Wednesday 19 November.
