Performance checks on nurses will 'enhance protection'

The nursing regulator wants to improve patient trust in the nursing care.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) says it wants to introduce three year checks on the performance of nurses and midwives, and patient feedback will be part of it.

BBC Breakfast's Louise Minchin spoke to Chief Executive of the NMC, Jackie Smith.
