Care home companies face tougher financial checks
The biggest providers of care homes in England are to have their financial records scrutinised so "early warnings" can be given if they are in difficulty.
The government is keen to avoid a repeat of the collapse of Southern Cross two years ago.
The Care Quality Commission will carry out the checks, which will include organisations which provide care in people's own home.
