Andrew Lansley on single sex NHS ward reforms

The coalition government has pledged to end most mixed-sex hospital accommodation in England.

Despite Labour committing to the policy when it won power in 1997, it failed to abolish them completely.

The wards will be ready across the NHS "within months", Health Secretary Andrew Lansley told the BBC, and hospitals who fail to implement the policy will be "penalised".
