Hilary Mantel: Novelists make history 'transparent'

The author of Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies, Dame Hilary Mantel, will explore how a writer combines facts with imagination during the BBC Reith Lectures.

She tells the Today programme that historical records are "not neutral but are interpretations from historians" and she argues that "novelists make this interpretation transparent".
