Steve Lamacq wraps up Independent Venue Week

Throughout this week, Steve Lamacq has taken his BBC 6 Music show on the road to celebrate the venues that are the bedrock of the UK's music scene.

The tour coincides with Independent Venue Week - organised to raise awareness of the plight facing small music venues, which are frequently forced to close by rising rents, tough licensing laws, increased property development and noise complaints.

One estimate suggests that 35% of small venues have shut their doors in the last decade.

After visiting some of the remaining clubs and pubs on the toilet circuit, Steve explains why he wants them to be saved.
