Sir Peter Blake on why he hates selfies

Pop artist Sir Peter Blake, who is showing his portraits for the first time, admits he hates posing for selfies with members of the public.

"I feel people are stealing a bit of you," he says, although he is always willing to sign copies of his famous cover for the Beatles' Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album.

In an interview with arts correspondent Rebecca Jones for Radio 4's Today programme, the 83-year-old also explains why he stopped painting from life after sittings with Dame Helen Mirren.

"It's such an intimate scenario," he says, "you're looking straight into their soul really."
