Michael Palin: 'BBC still lets us experiment'

The government is setting out the terms of a review into the BBC which is expected to focus on the corporation's size and activities.

On Wednesday, 29 figures from the world of entertainment and the arts wrote an open letter calling for "a strong BBC at the centre of British life".

Among the signatories was the Monty Python star Michael Palin, who told the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire programme he was glad it had offered him chances to experiment on TV.

Watch Victoria Derbyshire weekdays from 09:15-11:00 BST on BBC Two and the BBC News Channel. Follow the programme on Facebook and Twitter, and find all our content online.
