Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Alan Turing in Enigma film

The Imitation Game - the tale of how British mathematician Alan Turing broke the German Enigma code in World War Two - opens in cinemas this week.

The film - which stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley - has been on the festival circuit for more than two months and is seen as a strong contender in the forthcoming Oscars race.

Turing's codebreaking is seen as a major breakthrough that helped shorten the war and save countless lives.
