Nigel Havers 'mumbles' Shakespeare

The first episode of BBC One's Jamaica Inn drew complaints from viewers who said they couldn't make out what some of the actors were saying.

The BBC blamed issues with sound levels but the 'mumbling' tag seems to have stuck.

On the anniversary of the birth of William Shakespeare the BBC PM programme commissioned the actor Nigel Havers to mumble one of the most famous passages from Hamlet, 'To be or not to be'.
