Science fiction films 'lack new ideas'

With the latest version of RoboCop coming to cinemas around the country, BBC Radio 4's Today programme has looked at how science fiction films have to change to keep up with new technologies and visions of the future.

Louis Savy, founder of the Sci-Fi-London Film Festival, explained that "science fiction is always up for new interpretation as technology moves on".

Science fiction writer Paul Cornell, however, said that the genre "[does not] have enough new ideas".

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Wednesday 5 February.
