Can the buzz of mosquitoes be art?
Two artists have harnessed the flying power of mosquitoes to create sound.
Robin Meier and Ali Momeni say they wanted to create a "truce" between people and mosquitoes by allowing visitors to appreciate the beauty of the insects' "song".
The art involves tiny microphones that amplify the sound emitted as mosquitoes flap their wings in response to an artificial tone.
The pair say the process, which involves using bees' wax to "tether" the insect to a tiny piece of wire, doesn't harm the mosquitoes.
The work, entitled Truce: Strategies for Post-Apocalyptic Computation, features as part of the Sonica 2013 programme in Glasgow from 31 October until 3 November 2013.
