Author Jung Chang on which book subjects appeal to her

Jung Chang is best known around the world for Wild Swans, the story of three generations of women in her family, which put a human face on the turmoil of 20th Century China.

In her latest book, Empress Dowager Cixi: The Concubine Who Launched Modern China, she has turned to the woman who had a most formidable reputation but who, perhaps more than any one individual, helped pull 19th Century China towards the modern age.

Here Jung Chang talks to Newsnight's Gavin Esler about her latest book, Chinese censorship and why she prefers writing about women.
