Felicity Kendal on the catharsis of farces

Actress Felicity Kendal has said the appeal of comedies lies in the audience identifying with the problems of the characters on stage.

Talking to Nick Robinson on The Andrew Marr Show, the actress, who is appearing in Relatively Speaking by Alan Ayckbourn, explained that in "desperate" economic times, people found a release in having a laugh.
