Communist publisher 'created an icon'

Much is known about Boris Pasternak's epic novel Dr Zhivago - less well known is the story of the man who smuggled the manuscript out of the USSR so the outside world could read it.

Giangiacomo Feltrinelli was an Italian publisher - a millionaire communist who lived a colourful and controversial life amid the great ideological struggles of the last century.

"Reading is resisting", he once said, and now his life story is the subject of an album and stage show that started on Thursday by the Cardiff-based band Neon Neon.
