David Walliams on magic of Quentin Blake's drawings

A new exhibition featuring the work of illustrator Quentin Blake opens on Wednesday at Marlborough Fine Arts gallery. Blake's illustrations first appeared in Punch more than 60 years ago, but he is best known for his work in Roald Dahl's children's books.

Mr Blake has illustrated some of Mr Walliams' children's books. Here the comedian explains what he thinks makes Blake the best children's illustrator in the world.

Watch Stephen Smith's full film on Quentin Blake, in which he talks to the famous illustrator, on BBC Newsnight on Tuesday 11 December 2012 at 2230 GMT. Or watch afterwards on BBC iPlayer (UK only).
