Miriam O'Reilly wins Countryfile ageism tribunal

Ex-Countryfile host Miriam O'Reilly has won an employment tribunal against the BBC on the grounds of ageism and victimisation but not sexism.

The 53-year-old claimed she had been unfairly dropped from the rural affairs show when it moved to a prime time Sunday evening slot in 2009.

Speaking at a press conference in central London O'Reilly said she felt overwhelmed by the victory.

Since the tribunal verdict the Creative Director for the BBC, Alan Yentob, has said the corporation would like to talk to O'Reilly about further opportunities for employment.
