US election 2016: John Kasich's comment on women and kitchens

Republican presidential candidate John Kasich has whipped up a storm after saying women "left their kitchens" in support of him during his first electoral campaign in the 1970s.

He was talking to a crowd of 1,000 people in Virginia, where he's focusing his presidential campaign on the state's primary.

One woman retorted: "I'll come to support you but I won't be coming out of the kitchen."
